Fascinated by video games since the age of 7, I discovered the PC98 when I was 12 in the french magasine TILT which made an article on international computer press. There were pictures of LOGIN and TECHNOPOLIS in it. So I contacted a Japanese library in Paris and ordered a copy of Technopolis. It was my birthday present, that's where I saw my first screenshots of PC98, X68000, FM-Towns, etc ... 

Fasciné par les jeux videos depuis l'âge de sept ans, j'ai découvert le PC98 presque par hasard vers 12 ans dans TILT qui faisait un article sur la presse micro internationale. On pouvait y voir des photos de LOGIN et de TECHNOPOLIS. C'est donc naturellement que j'ai pris contact avec une grande librairie japonaise (à Paris) pour commander un exemplaire de Technopolis. Ce fut mon cadeau d'anniversaire (186 FF, quand même).

It's been a schock, at that time, I had a Megadrive and an old 80x88 (old PC) which displayed 4 colours. I've been very impressed by games such as Elle and Foxy 2 from Elf, Branmarker and Rance. This interest slept a long time because of the lack of games, even if in 1995 we had a lot of H games for DOS/V and Windows (Mad Paradox (Queen Soft) was released in France). These games have spread the idea that Japanese machines were H platforms. Well ... Maybe a little, but I'm sorry that in Europe we have very little "non-H" games and very few ISOs of great games such as POLICENAUTS, which search has become my goal in life (currently achieved thanks to RaiRai). Regarding emulators, the first ones I saw were MSX emus on Amiga. After that, I had the chance to try a PC98 emulator developped by EPSON on my 386 ... 1 frame per second, but I saw the demo of Brandish VT, a Koei game and a Qix clone (Inju something ...).

 C'est là que j'ai vu mes premiers screenshots de jeux sur PC98, X68000, FM-Towns, etc ... Ce fut un choc, à l'époque, j'avais une Megadrive et un 80x88 (vieux PC) qui affichait 4 pauvres couleurs. J'ai été très marqué par certains jeux comme Elle et Foxy 2 de Elf à l'époque, Branmarker et autres Rance. Cet intérêt a souffert longtemps du manque de jeux, hormis l'émergence soudaine de jeux H pour DOS/V et Windows aux alentours de 1995 (Souvenez vous de Mad Paradox qui est sorti en France distribué par ces escrocs de Samuraï). Ces derniers ont véhiculé (il faut bien le dire) l'idée selon laquelle les ordinateurs japonais sont des plateformes essentiellement H. Bon, ... un peu quand même. Mais, je regrette que l'on ait que quelques copies de jeux "non-H", très peu d'ISOS de grands titres PC98 comme POLICENAUTS, dont la recherche est devenue un des buts de mon existence (but actuellement atteint grâce à RaiRai).
En ce qui concerne les émulateurs, les premiers que j'ai vu tourner sont des émulateurs MSX sur Amiga. Par la suite, j'ai eut la chance de pouvoir me faire les dents sur un émulateur PC98 développé par EPSON, que je faisait tourner sur mon 386 ... une image seconde, certes, mais j'ai pu ainsi voir la démo de Brandish VT, un jeu Koei obscur, et un clone de Qix H dont le nom m'échappe (un Inju quelque chose ...).

Just like Kelesis my favourite beer is Guiness, best cider is the "White Lightning" (strikes only once °__°). Favourite bands : Joy Division, Fields of the Nephilim, Children of Bodom (Let go off my arm ya fuuuuuck !). Favourite game : Policenauts (for the hours I spent listening to the musics instead of actually playing, for the first time I went to the B.C.P. H.Q., hallucinated, shaking, ... For the shivers and the week of despair after finishing it). I live in the South of France with my girlfriend.

Au risque de parapher Kelesis, ma bière favorite est la Guiness, mon cidre favori le White Lightning (qui ne frappe qu'une fois). Mes groupes favoris vont de Joy Division à Fields of the Nephilim en passant par Children of Bodom (Let go off my arm ya fuuuuuck !). Mon jeu préféré : Policenauts (pour les heures passées à écouter ses musiques au lieu de faire avancer mes parties, pour la première fois que j'ai mis les pieds au B.C.P. H.Q., halluciné, tremblant, ... Pour les frissons et la semaine de déprime quand je l'ai fini). Je réside dans le Sud de la France, avec ma compagne.

I'm Kelesis, french PC98, FM-Towns, MSX, X68000 fan. In fact I'm more a games fan than a machine fan, japanese games to be precise, on all platforms (consoles and even mobile phone if I had one). It's a long story so I'll take some shortcuts, it all started when I was very young and some will say I'm a bit "harcore retro-gamer" ^_^. No shame about it, I also like contemporary games, but like to keep memory vivid.

Moi, c'est Kelesis, jeune Français bien sous tout rapport mais évidemment Fan de PC 98, mais aussi de FM Towns, de MSX et de X68000. En fait surtout des jeux qui tournent dessus, et je dirai meme plus, des jeux japonais en particulier, et sur tous le supports en fait (console, et même téléphone portable si j’en avais un). C’est une longue histoire ce rapport aux jeux, alors je vais vous l’épargner, il faut juste savoir que c’est tres jeune que ça m’a pris, et que mes goûts sont parfois assez "retro gamer hardcore" ^_^. Mais je considère pas ça comme un défaut, je suis aussi ouvert sur l’avenir, et j’entretiens le souvenir de l’autre coté.

I'm also the webmaster of a Compile Shooting Games site (not much updated lately but I need time for the PC98 wonders !). The Compile Shooting Games are one of my favourite series, but also the great Akumajo Dracula and Phantasy Star series (and too many others to be listed here).

Je suis aussi webmaster d’un site sur les shooting games Compile, qui bouge pas beaucoup en ce moment, certes, mais c’est pour mieux me consacrer aux merveilles du PC 98 ! Donc les shooting games Compile sont une de mes series préférées, mais aussi la belle et grande serie des Akumajo Dracula / Castlevania, ou les Phantasy Star encore, et plein d’autres choses qu’il serait trop long de citer. 

Regarding Music I'm "metal", in all it's variations and "Game Music" also, some classical, some movie OSTs. I'm Libra, live in south of france, and the nick Kelesis comes from the Compile game Golvelius, fits me fine (except for the green hairs ...).

Niveau musique, je suis "metal", dans pas mal de ses variations, et "Game music" aussi, et pour finir une pointe de classique, quelques bandes originales de films pour faire bonne mesure dans ce panorama de mes goûts. Pour les infos plus personnelles, je suis du signe Balance et j’habite le sud de la France, vous voilà bien renseignés. Le nick Kelesis vient du jeu Compile Golvellius, et ça me colle bien a part les cheveux verts.

I entered the world of video games and computers at the prehistoire of this one (Pong console clone, ZX81). I have been in contact with many kind of supports and interessed in lots of things concerning them. I really started to be slave of the machine when I had my first true computer, a Texas Instrument TI99-4/A on which I played the first adaptations of arcade games of this period and also started programming and drawing in Hexadecimal!! ( we were insane ).

Entré dans le monde du jeu vidéo et de l'informatique grand public à la prehistoire de celui-ci (  Pong console clone, ZX81 ) j'ai connu toute sorte de supports et été interessé par moulte differentes choses les touchant de près ou de loin. J'ai vraiment commencé à être esclave de la machine quand j'ai eu mon premier vrai ordinateur, un Texas Instrument TI99-4/A sur lequel j'ai joué au premières adaptations de jeux d'arcade de l'époque et aussi  touché à la programmation et au dessin en Hexadecimal!! From MSX to Old School Consoles I moved later to bigger guns when I bought my first PC (a shinny faster than light 386SX)... I always wanted to draw virtually and one of the first softwares I bought was Deluxe Paint II ehanced which cost me at this time 800FF (~ 140€ ). It is a good bargain considering that I still use this software today (cf. PC98 Office OPai graph). Interessed in parallel by the Japanese media culture since I am a kid I started at the same time a difficult quest : finding games and softwares for Japanese PC...Thanks to cybercafés and their affordable prices I was able to find some games running on the mysterious DOS/V, a clone of MS-DOS needing specials Japanese fonts... Having eventually Internet at home in the early '96 I started being loaded with a good amount of these softwares and later with the appearance of the firsts PC98 emulators running on Windows 9X a significant mass of PC98 games emerged from the WWW soup...At the turning of the millennium, just after the disappearance of the great old sites devoted to the Japanese Computer, FMV starts its journey...

My video game tastes are very large and I could speak about thousands of titles I love, it is why I am reluctant to quote any ^o^...ok, ok, just kiddin' here's some titles I worship: Ultima 7 Part I and II, Eye of the Beholder Trilogy, Blade Runner, the Castlevania series in general.......... My musical tastes are also very varied but I have a special attraction for the classical baroque, Gothic Rock, Finnish Metal and the 80's Pop Music... video game Muzak also ^_- of course... I currently survive in Syracuse NY,USA with my wife...  

Mes gouts en matière jeu vidéo sont très variés et je pourrais citer énormément de titres que j'adore, c'est pour cela que je vais m'abstenir ^o^, bon allez sous la pression générale voici quelques titres culte : Ultima 7 Part I et II, Eye of the Beholder Trilogy, Blade Runner, Les Castlevania en général.......... Mes gouts musicaux sont très variés également mais j'ai un faible pour le classique baroque, Le Gothic Rock, le Metal Finlandais et la pop des années 80...les ziques de jeu vidéo également ^_-...Je survis actuellement aux USA, pour être plus précis Syracuse dans l'état de NY, avec mon épouse...
