Games Screenshot Project
ABOUT
This project came to our mind when the collection started growing and
growing. The purpose is screenshooting every emulated PC9801/PC9821 game in our
possession. One screenshot for the game title and an in-game
screenshot. - Ben Tokugawa Corp 2003-2010.

POSTULATE
Why using Gontajin's list as a base ?
As far as I know, it's the most exhaustive database of PC98 games
around. It has plenty of entries useful for error tracking (media
description & count) and sorting (titles in katakana & kanji).
About file naming and sorting method :
I sort games by company name. File naming is as follow : [game name] [dump format].rar
Example inside Elf folder :
Dokyusei (FDI-HDI).rar
Keeping a record of the file format is useful to collect disk images to
go along with an HD install, or get rid of "files only" dumps, for
example.
About "note" games versions :
In the early PC98 days notebooks were in monochrome, color LCDs did not exist
or were not very common. As a result, some games were specifically
issued for monochrome displays, with palettes specifically
adapted to look good on these screens. Whenever I came across a game
released in both versions I checked them both as collected in
Gontajin's list, they represent less than 1 % of entries and can -in my
opinion- considered as marginal.
It is interesting to note that some companies adapted the palette to either a monochrome or color display using code.

SELF EXTRACT .EXE FILES : Some dumps come into .exe files that when
launched under DOS in a PC98 emulator, will decrunch and re-create the
floppies automatically. Of course, you will need several blank floppies
ready.
FILES ONLY : Files directly copied from an HD install or the floppies,
this ripping method is often considered as crap by purists.
