All I'm asking for is a package containing a working emulator (with the X68000 BIOS files and all) with an additional HDD file that let's you access the Windows drives from the emulator side of things - there was a special x68k native program that let you do that, don't recall it's name though.

I'm having problems running latest version of hoot (2011-05-15)

Previous versions works flawlessly with the same configuration, but this one keeps throwing at me a nice "Application error" dialog.. Anyone with the same problem?

I don't have this problem on W7-64... The default ini file is still the same as the previous version, incidentally.

The only thing I can think of is maybe you replaced Knurek's Hoot Archives config files with the ones from Hoot (specifically, the hoot.xml file and the whole xml directory).

I did, yes. It was working correctly before.. well, it's not a wonder, latest hoot archive's xml is more than a year old.

Uhm, I tried and latest hoot gives me the same error even with a fresh "installation", regardless of hoot archive's xml or not. Weird huh?

EDIT: I'm running it on XP SP3, any clues?

I have DirectX 9.0c (June 2010)
Could it be related to an outdated DirectX?

It's possible, although I would expect Hoot to complain about a missing or obsolete library instead of just giving a generic application error.

It should be noted that what Microsoft calls DirectX 9.0c since many years is actually updated on a quarterly basis. The latest version was released in April 2011. Might be worth checking it out.

Yeah, since June 2010 all posterior versions are the same, the only change present is in the web installer.. I really don't have a clue on why's not working :/ Thanks anyway

EDIT: hoot's latest executable file is ~1mb smaller than previous. I'm just guessing but it might be something related to that.. or god-knows-what stuff happened with the "new" compiling enviroment these dudes began using..

It's been a while since I last used hoot so I thought I'd give the latest version a go But i seem to be getting an application error with it. I'm not too sure if it's the same problem as wushu's though (currently on Vista)

Is there an older version for me to try?

Seems like there is definately some sort of compatibility issue with the latest one.

Seems like they still host all earlier versions of the program... try renaming the above link to, say, hoot20081231 for instance.
