Hey, I tried to use this combination in Gradius with the latest MUNT, but it seems that the FM music is still on and playing, and the MT-32 part (MUNT) plays the instruments delayed, has anyone experienced this, and is there a way to stop the FM playing? Or perhaps this is intended...

Not sure but on my version of hoot (2013 06 02), for example Title Demo has strange loud clicks, hoot MT-32 emulation is probably not finished. However someone uploaded the apparently correct MT-32 tracks, recorded from hardware (?), to youtube:

Title Demo: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FF-Eigl-AFY
Farewell: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GUdDLKqzhM0
etc

This soundtrack is really great...

Gradius II, as well as other games such as Detana!! Twinbee, Parodius da!, and Zoom's Genocide 2 (just to name a few) use the MT-32 in conjunction with the internal FM synth and ADPCM chips. It's supposed sound like that.
