Hi all,
yesterday I decided to disassemble my FM-TOWNS II MX in order to change the CMOS battery (since I could not store the drive letter assignement anymore) but , once opened, I found no battery inside.
Instead I found this "hell" of wiring (the small ones, I mean) on the motherboard, both on top and bottom layer:

Does someone know if this is a factory fix or some kind of mod (overclock, for example)?
Besides, really is there no battery inside this model? How the settings could be stored?
Thanks in advance.

****UPDATE****
I found the CMOS battery ( CR2450), it was (almost hidden) inside of a plastic holder attached to the case, there was no need to disassemble the whole unit. Can I replace it with a common CR2032?

Both CR2032 and CR2450 are 3V, so, yes :)

Yes, I already knew this, they have same voltage but different amperage.CR2450 are used to supply power to devices that requires high current (30mA) and, obviously, there must have been a reason why Fujitsu engineers used this and not the common CR2032.

Indeed, CR2450 can deliver ~3 times the mAh of a CR2032. I would try anyway since the worst case scenario would be the battery draining extremely fast, but that decision it's up to you..

I already bought a CR2450, price was almost the same.I'm trying also to figure out the pinout of the CD-ROM interface of FM-TOWNS, it's a 40 pin but it's not EIDE neither SCSI.Maybe is it a Panasonic/MKE proprietary interface like described here:

Wushu, do you know something more about?

I don't, but may I ask why are you searching for this information? If your CD unit's laser is somewhat dead and you are thinking about a drive replacement, you may find this thread @ NFGGames interesting because it's all about laser replacements for FM Towns..

Yes, I'm searching this information because the laser of the CD-ROM has died and I'm looking for a replacement.I know that thread on NFG and I tried some laser pickup (like RAE0150Z - RAE0152Z without success but not the RAE0170Z which looks like very similar if not identical)
