I read the document on your website that states that you need a Type I SRAM card to use in the Marty because flash cards that emulate an ATA disk will not work. My question is will a Linear flash card work instead of an SRAM card since it does not emulate ATA? The Linear flash cards seem to be a lot less expensive than SRAM cards.

I think a linear card should do the trick, I couldn't try one myself, though.
