I'm doing some research, and I'm trying to ascertain whether the PC88 release dates this guy cites are 100% accurate or not.

Any idea, guys? I mean, how would you check, besides looking through old magazines presumably?

He seems pretty confident in his precision, down to the days themselves.

The most accurate source i know is the PC88 Library

Hi Sketcz,

Those dates are consistent with the Japanese Wikipedia entries. Japanese games usually have an exact, official release date, so they're probably correct.

This excellent site cites its sources for Ys I release dates, and notes any inconsistencies.

My copy of RPG Densetsu - The 1980s (Gameside Books, 2008) lists 1987/06/21 for Ys and 1988/04/22 for Ys II, which is consistent for the original PC-8801 releases.

Fantastic, thanks guys.

ALSO!

I had trouble loading this page, I think I got a 500 error or something. It looked like the site had died for a moment. Is everything OK with bandwidth and hosting costs? Because I'd be happy to make a small donation via paypal for upkeep of the forum. I don't visit very often, but this entire collective is such a treasured place for me, a rich repository of data and knowledge and it'd be a shame to see it disappear (I am eternally fearful it'll go the way of HOTU's once great forum).
