I'm trying to test "The Screamer", and I need to make sure that the conversation system is working properly, but I need to be able to type in Japanese. Does anyone know how I can type Japanese characters in m88?

The scroll lock key emulates the PC88 Kana key in M88 and switches between Roman and Kana input systems.
You can check it at boot time, by inserting no disk (or, more properly, having no disk inserted), at the Nbasic prompt.

The scroll lock key doesn't seem to be doing anything for me. Do I need to change anything in the options?

Besides making sure to set the keyboard to Japanese 106 Keyboard in the settings, I cannot think of anything else.
