Hi all, thanks to everyone for the help and shares. Being a big VGM fan, I have begun to assemble a music disk collection. I have begun with the PC88 after seeing this page.

My current progress, 129 disks so far. Some grabbed from TOSEC, many from the huge 2GB PC88 archive floating around Share, still others floating around the web. You can find it here. The pass is 'tcf'. I have included my known missing list as well as a clrmame DAT file to help you sort out any unknowns or hopefully find some new disks.

I am hoping that some of you may have some new titles (or alternate versions) for this collection as well. I am also hoping for some help with the following titles. I have not been able to find the disk images, and maybe some of you have them. These are known to be missing based on the links:

Vampire Music Disk (Maybe Vampire BGM Shuu (1994)(Ayashige) from TOSEC)
MUSIC ARENA vol.1
MUSIC ARENA vol.2 (Same as above)
MUSIC ARENA vol.3 (Same as above)
MUSIC ARENA vol.4 (Same as above)
MUSIC ARENA vol.5 (Same as above)
MUSIC ARENA vol.6 (Same as above)
MUSIC ARENA vol.7 (Same as above)
MUSIC ARENA vol.8 (Same as above)
MUSIC ARENA vol.9 (Same as above)
WOODSMAN DISK vol .- (MINUS)
DISK WAW
Soft seedy \ 100 Music Disk Vol.1
RI-2 Music Disk vol.1
RI-2 Music Disk vol.2
Zeal Soft Music Disc 1
RG Soft Music Disk vol.1
Straight Boy
RAMA MUSIC DISK vol.2
Blue Blood Music Disk Vol. 1 - 7
SSG Music Disk Vol. 1 - 3
Sound ON-TEN Vol. 2
Captain-NEO Music Disk 1
Dinosaur Music Disk (Disk 2) - Not sure if this is needed, but seem to get an error message on loading.
RK-Box Vol. 1
Woodsman Disk Vol. 1 - 2, or anything besides Vol. 3

I only have rather common stuff for PC88. Sorry.
Thanks for the link anyway

I've updated my collection, here's the latest version, now with almost 150 disks! As before, I'm still missing the disks listed in the first post of this thread. If anyone has them, I'd really appreciate a post or a PM. Enjoy!

Thank you for your set.

I looked around my pile to see if I could find any of your wanted ones - but without any luck. I did find some music disks that I think are not in your current set, but seeing as I seem to have a lot of what you already have you in all likelihood have these already. If you do want any, let me know. The Come-On Music seems to want a MIDI interface.

I also found some files containing .MDX files if they are of any interest.

See lists below.

I would personally be very interested by the following d88 you listed :

Blue_Blood_Music_Disk_Vol7_Gradius_Special.D88
RCM-PC88 Ver 1.0 [2HD__].D88 (Can't figure what that one could be)
SSG Music Disk Vol.4.d88
SSG Music Disk Vol.5.d88
unknown120_music_disk.d88 (Obviously can't figure that one either ;)

If you could treat them with your Small Light before uploading them, would be very nice of you.

Your request got us in a panic, and I couldn't find the Small Light, but I did find an egg-beater amongst other things, so Nobita whacked the files with the egg-beater and put them up at:

Thank you kindly.
The Mystery Title was Team Dangeroude's Sanzeshobutsu, for reference.

Now I guess we just need to add the 6 previous floppies from Blue Blood and the 3 ones from SSG to the missing list Snakemeat put up ;)

Thanks for the title. And yes - more to find!

I found some more ( I hope I am not duplicating - a bit weary ):

This one also has a disk2 that *looks* like it needs disk 1:

Looks like some kind of sequencing/composing program ( got ver 1.0 too ):

Looks like some kind of kids thing:

Also have a Musium 3:

This is Ver 2.2 which was not mentioned:

Edit - another one:

I am clueless about music so please excuse any stupidities!

Awesome finds, I'm at work right now, so I cannot check what i have already. When I get home I'll check my current collection and add my requests for the files you are listing.

Edit: Home now. Looking through my list I think I need the following (I already got the first pack from you):

rk_box_vol2.d88
orphe_sound_theater_comic_market_44.D88
Music Loud Vol. 1++
Music Loud Vol. 2
Instant Music
NCS Musicart 88
Video Game Music (1) v2.2
Personal Musician 88

I would also like the MDX files if you can spare the bandwidth. I have many unsorted MDX I am still working on, but I have around 550 sets sorted if you would like me to post those for you.

I'm currently working on making screenshots for all of the disks too in order to help with identification of mystery disks for others.

Thanks to all who have shared. I'll post an update as soon as the new ones are sorted and the screenshots are complete.

They are up at:

I certainly would be interested in your MDX sets when you have time and I look forward to your screenshots and updates. Thanks!

Thanks a lot for the new disks and MDX files!

Here's my currently renamed MDX files. 558 sets so far. Just so you know, I rename them with this format:

Game Name - (Published Year)(Publisher)(MDX creator or ripper)[System version]

Since many MDX are fan creations, the "System version" can be something other than X68k. For example, if the "System version" is "ARC", it means they were aiming to get the same sound as the Arcade version of the game.

Thanks very much for the MDX set - much appreciated!

Edit - I assume you have RI-2 Music Disk vol.4?

Edit again - this one of any interest?

Here's the latest pack. Fixed some names, removed some duplicates, and added screenshots for every disk. I chose not to include disks that were applications, only music disks.

Thanks to peter_j and Danjuro for the help!

peter_j: Thanks for looking, but I already have those two files (RI-2 Music Disk Vol. 4 and Sound Castle).

If anyone finds some new stuff not in this pack, please let me know.

Enjoy!

Edit: Wanted list in first post updated. Not sure all exist. If someone could translate the error message in the Dinosaur music disk for options 2 and 3 (I think), that'd would be great.

They are items from the standard Dinosaur game (Start and Continue, in that order). The sound tests are the 2 bottom items of the menu opened when choosing the 3rd option.
I didn't finish the game's PC-88 iteration, so I can't tell wether this Music Disc is a hack (my guess) or an extra you get after finishing it (which would be quite unexpected, knowing the general greediness of Falcom ;).

BTW, this doesn't really fit the forum profile much (I will post on EAB later), but given it was inspired by snakemeat's awesome work, might as well mention it. If any of the mods feel it deserves a separate thread (so as not to clutter this one), feel free to move this message.

I've been doing a package like his, only for Amiga, and I feel it's mature enough for a first release, so here you go:
http://hcs64.com/2sf/new/Commodore%20Am ... 20v0.1.rar

50 musicdiscs there, still missing loads of known ones, but those will get added eventually.
Inlcuded are some WinUAE configs, that should make life easier for people that don't really have Amiga insight, and a virtual HDD, with stuff required by few newer discs (also needed for running ones that simply won't fit on floppies). The HDD shouldn't have any copyrighted stuff (everything was taken from Aminet), but if you find anything, please notify me so that I can remove it.

The configs assume WinUAE installed to C:\WinUAE, but since they are plaintext, it's easily changeable. No Kickstart BIOS roms included, as they are still copyrighted, but they are easy enough to obtain (from here for instance: http://www.amigaforever.com/).
