You know why the title screen appears too fast? This happens in all PC-88 emulators...

No idea, but look on the bright side - you don't have to sit through one of those interminable Japanese game intros.

I downloaded a PC-88 game pack (game pack 9) this site: http://www.jcec.co.uk/pc88_gam.htm

The "Game Pack 9" is in *.d88 format and these games are probably cassette tapes. And this pack contains Thunder Force and the title screen appears normal, but without the stars in the background.

Is there another version of the game with only this detail different?

Oh, someone can translate the phrase in japanese that is on the title screen? Thanks! :)

As far as I can make out, there were two versions, plus a construction kit.

1. Tape version. Jan 1984.

http://www.retroprograms.com/mirrors/syasin/tecno.htm

2. Disk version for PC-8801mk2SR. Mar 1985.
http://refugee2005.sakura.ne.jp/library/1985/1985_3.htm

I don't know if that helps.

EDIT. This might be of interest if you can make any sense of it:

The reason why the original M88, J80 and the newer modified M88/X88000 (M88kai, x88x18 and higher) versions doesn`t works is
they not support "OUT 0" (fast load) patched images (.cmt/.t88).

Thunder Force
BASIC loader
LIST 200

Quote:
200 A$="o0,0"+CR$+"o0,0"+CR$+"o51,0"+CR$+"gd000"+CR$+CHR$(0)

Galaxian
BASIC loader
LIST 20
LIST 30

Quote:
20 DEF USR=&HE4F0:OUT 0,0:A=USR(0)
30 DEF USR=&HC000:OUT 0,0:A=USR(0)

It seems, the original X88000, Quasi88 and ePC-8801MA (Takeda) support it.

It works now with J80

Thunder Force
BASIC loader

If you replace Line 200

Quote:
200 A$="o0,0"+CR$+"o0,0"+CR$+"o51,0"+CR$+"gd000"+CR$+CHR$(0)

with

Quote:
200 A$="r"+CR$+"r"+CR$+"o51,0"+CR$+"gd000"+CR$+CHR$(0)

I downloaded a PC-88 game pack compilation from Neo Kobe (CDOS Pack (Disk 4)).

This "CDOS Pack (Disk 4)" also contains Thunder Force I (Cassette Magnetic Tape version) and the loading screen has a different japanese phrase from the other version...

Someone can translate the phrase in japanese that is on the loading screen, please? Thanks!
