Hello!

Does anyone know where I can download Thunder Force (Tape version and .t88 format)? I refer to this version that appeared recently on Yahoo Auctions:

Thanks! :)

I have it as a .cmt if that helps?

It runs in X88000, but that screen in your pic flashes by too quickly for me to grab it.

I use the M88 emulator and it does not support the .cmt format...
Is there some program that converts *.cmt in *.t88?

I don't know the answer. Try using X88000. The file is at:

http://www.retroprograms.com/temp/Thunder_Force.7z

It takes a while to load. X88000 is in English now, but some instructions I wrote over a decade ago:

Where do I download the X88000 emulator? You have to put for download along with the roms that make it work?

Thanks!

I see you have linked where to download it form Manuke Station. I'm not sure if that old ROM pack on my old site is current but there is also a version of the emulator with system roms in the Neo-Kobe emulator pack.

T88 format

Tested on QUASI88.
It seems, the game need exactly a CPU clock speed of 4MHz.
The tape contains a BASIC loader and 2 parts of Machine code.

Thanks, Anna_Wu! :D

Apparently, the emulation of Thunder Force is still not perfect ... The initial screen where it is written "Thunder Force" appears very quickly and will now direct to demostration of the game.

I refer to this screen:

Very nice, Anna_Wu. Did you convert the .cmt? If so, I'd love to know the steps you took.

If you run in N88 V1_S mode, you'll get the right colours. Slightly chopped image:

It does run in X88000 if set to 3 MHz.

The game does play - not stuck in a demo.

Thanks, I checked the loading procedure only.
Are you able to run this tape on M88?
I tried some different settings without success.

The conversion is very easy.

http://www.cug.net/~manuke/x88000.html
Download "trt_1_0_2.zip"

Start TransT88
No need to change anything
Click OK (first button)
Open (O) the Tape file (Ctrl+O)
As example: Thunder_Force.cmt
Save As (A)...
As example: Thunder_Force.t88

That´s it.

Very clever on the conversion - thanks.

No - no luck in M88 - just shows the title screen then blanks out. I tried a number of settings too with no joy.

It doesn´t work on newer modified X88000 versions like x88x18 - x88x21 too. x88x17 was the last working version.

Thanks peter_j and Anna_Wu for the informations! :)

You know why the title screen appears too fast? This happens in all PC-88 emulators...
