Dear all,

Forum registration is now subject to my approval to avoid spamming, I also cleaned false users and posts.

EDIT : I do not check the regitration requests as often as I would like - please accept my apologies in advance as it might take a while.

There's something wrong with the verification. In the last two days, my registration was still being approved while a new dozen spam accounts already appeared. What's going on!?

Actually, you did the right thing. Spammers still register but their accounts are inactive so they can't cause damage. The only problem this creates is that a reply email is required from the new user so you know that they are not a spammer.

So maybe just state something like reply with "insert generic response" with "such and such" subject from the email you used to register with. It's not like any of these spurious idiots are real people. They're just bots which hit the forum software. They can't comprehend anything that's actually posted here. Which is why all the topics they make are always new and not replies.

Anyways, thanks for keeping this place alive.

This is my second attempt to remove spam attacks, hopefully the newly installed mod will solve the issue.

"Thank You" very much for the approval to post and be a part of this very special forum. I learned of "Tokugawa Forums" recently through a wonderful piece written in the recent "Retro Gamer Videogames Handbook 1977-2001" which had an article on JPN retro computers. I'm a veteran of various social networking sites and select gaming websites, but aside from GameFAQs which is wide-open, this is the first real hardcore forum I've ever joined (there is another that I'll leave unnamed as I don't know what their deal is).

In my spare time outside of my day job, I hope to take a look around this site and see "what's going on." Thanks again and have an awesome day!

Welcome!

I believe that particular article has been thoroughly expanded over at hg101 http://www.hardcoregaming101.net/JPNcom ... puters.htm

@Trickless Thanks for the 'welcome!' I'll check that link (I actually check HG101 already, but I may have missed that update as I've been rather busy). Cool avatar BTW. :)

Welcome! It's always a pleasure to see new users here. :D
Is that book you mention still sold somewhere or is it out of print?

It can be bought here: https://www.imagineshop.co.uk/videogames-hardware-handbook.html

I believe they ship worldwide. There are also two more volumes.

Edit: looks like there is only one more volume.

Thanks again for all of the "welcomes" Also, the book I originally spoke of is technically Volume 2 which just hit Stateside approx. 2 week ago, probably been in UK/Europe for about a month (it takes about a month to hit US shelves). I picked mine up at Barnes & Noble (but BORDERS also carries a lot of Retro Gamer/Future/Imagine Published mags). I'm in the process of getting the first volume and other select issues. (Vol 2 has a blue cover). http://www.retrogamer.net/ Funnily enough, I don't see it on their site o_O Hmmmm I swear I have it :: biting nails :: LOL!

The following link will take one to my Twitter "twitpic" page (direct link for photo I want to show). I was going to put this on forum but image is way too big and I was gonna' upload to one of my websites, but I need to touch some things up before doing so. http://twitpic.com/39mmkw

Also, note, the shameless plug for ++GoodGames (label) is on top as "proof" that it was "my" pic. :) It's a great book and worth the money. There are a few things from yester-year I'd either forgotten about knowledge-wise or didn't know at all. [/img]

Somebody contacted me elsewhere saying he tried to apply for membership some time ago. There's a music project going on with one of the composers of the Might & Magic series and they're looking for some stuff. Would be great if someone could take a look and clean any queues, unless there are technical problems.
