Just to give people an overview on magazines the covered the old Japanese computer games, here is a listing. These are the magazines mostly focused on games, I haven't covered magazines like Maicon Basic that are mostly hardware and technical stuff.

Hopefully this helps out people who are searching for old magazines covering the stuff they are interesting in.

Technopolis
- Ran from mid 80's to mid 90's
- Moderate length (100+ pages per issue)
- Covers games on all computers
- Solid coverage on all game releases
- Extensive doujin coverage on all new doujin releases
- Very little game advertisements

Comptiq
- Ran from the mid 80's to the present.
- Large length (250+ pages per issue)
- Covered games on all computers (emphasis on the NEC machines)
- Large amount of coverage for games on the NEC computers, small coverage on the rest
- Very little doujin coverage
- Large strategy guide sections for popular games at the time
- Lots of participation from the game companies with messages each issue from all the companies)
- Large amount of game advertisements (30+ pages)

- Ran from the mid 80's to the 2000's?
- Large length (250+ pages per issue)
- Became bi-monthly in the late 80's onwards (24 issues a year)
- Covers games on all computers
- Very little doujin coverage
- Massive coverage of all games, most games getting featured in numerous issues (due in part to 2 new issues each month)
- Massive amount of game advertisements each issue (60+ pages)

MSX FAN
- Ran from mid 80's to mid 90's
- Moderate length (100+ pages per issue)
- Covers games on the MSX
- Good coverage of all MSX releases
- Decent doujin coverage
- Lots of strategy guide sections for MSX games
- Moderate amount of MSX game advertisements each issue (10+ pages)

MSX Magazine
- Ran from mid 80's to mid 90's
- Moderate length (150+ pages per issue)
- Covers games on the MSX
- Good coverage of all MSX releases
- Decent doujin coverage
- Lots of strategy guide sections for MSX games
- Moderate amount of MSX game advertisements each issue (20+ pages)

Oh! X
- Ran from the late 80's to the mid 90's
- Moderate length (150+ pages per issue)
- Focused completely on the x68000
- Each issue is half game coverage and half hardware and technical stuff
- Decent coverage of all x68000 game releases
- Decent doujin coverage
- Moderate amount of advertisements for x68000 games (10+ pages)

Popcom
- Ran from mid 80's to the early 90's
- ?

I have never seen an issue of Popcom, but I expect it maybe to be similar to Comptiq. If anyone has info please contribute to this thread.

So basically Login was the best magazine just for pure quantity of game coverage and advertisements, 2 new massive thick issues each month was insane. The other magazines had their strengths though, Technopolis is by far the best magazine for doujin coverage (there are still heaps of pc88/98/MSX/x68 doujins that haven't been dumped yet), and Comptiq gave the best insight to all the game companies, and had the most interesting special articles and features.

If anyone can add more info about these or other magazines feel free to contribute.

Oh! magazine released CDs for the FM Towns. I have one (and I've already dumped and shared it). I don't know if they released material for other platforms too, tough...

Must have been from the Oh! FM magazine? Along with Oh! X and Oh! FM there was also Oh! PC released by the same publisher. Oh! PC covered the NEC computers I think.
