The dumper's in the US, the game just hasn't arrived at his proxy's warehouse yet.

Time for another update. The dumper has the game, he just needs to make a certain cable to dump it via Windows. It should be dumped within the next few weeks.

Indeed. He actually just told me that he should have it dumped by the end of this week. He was having some trouble at first because he was using the wrong system mode (since it's a Turbo game), but he's making quick progress.

Also, I could've sworn I posted this on here, but a few weeks ago the native Japanese speaker (he's referred to as Bando) heard back from Imatani. He revealed some interesting information about Hudson's Mario games in general (though one of the things he said doesn't line up with my magazines), but in the case of DK3: DG he said that even to him it's unknown why the FM-7 version was cancelled. He was quickly written back with more questions, but he hasn't responded to these and since it's been a few weeks I unfortunately don't think he will. Itagaki responded, but said he can't remember anything about the game's development.

However, Bando's going to attempt to contact Takashi Takebe, who we believe will respond because he was happy to do an SMB Special interview a while back (he was credited on DK3: DG's high score table as "TAKEBEESAN"). Hopefully, we'll have more questions answered.

hey guys. I don't know how you missed the thread I made in the "Other Japanese Retro Computers" board. I guess people don't look there often.

Anyway, the game is dumped. Here's the story.

Here's the game. Also, the disk is for sale if anyone wants it.

Thank you, hudson124 for your help.

Cheers

Many thanks for your efforts.

Cool, I was going to ask how exactly the process went.
I also remember seeing that PC 6601 version on Youtube, I thought it might be one of those hacks/homebrew though.

Great write up, could be useful for more Sharp X1 dumps down the road, interesting a normal PC can access the drive. Thanks for your hard work!

I'm sure kobushi will read this and will add it to his set once he updates them, you can always pm him to give him a heads up just in case though.

Many Thanks. Works fine.
Any fan of X1 interested in other games that undumped/image files are been keeping private? I made a list of some undumped x1 software list in sharp x1 request thread.

There's always interest, but what we need is more people willing to contribute financially to buy the games and then of course someone capable to dump them, but this last part is the easier one. We also need to be aware of when one of such games shows up for sale as I don't think anyone is keeping tabs very often on X1 auctions.

This story got to kotaku btw:
