Looking for the PC-6001 version of:

Hokkaido Rensa Satsujin: Ohotsuku ni Kiyu
北海道連鎖殺人 オホーツクに消ゆ

Although sometimes translated as Okhotsk ni Kiyu.

Thanks.

Hopefully someone else can help me(!)

I'm just interested in seeing the differences between all the versions (PC6001, PC88, MSX, FC, PC98,... )

Mr. masquane, do you own a working PC-6001 with a cassette cable? And is your computer running Windows? I'll tell the rest if you have all those requirements.

Yes, I have PC-6001, Data recorder, Casette cable and Video cable.
And my computer is Windows XP.
However, I don't know whether to work PC-6001 because it doesn't turn on power for long years and PC-6001 is put on the parents' house in Niigata.
During the next summer vacation (in August), I'll go home and check it.

A data recorder? Great!
I was under the false assumption that they were built-in, so we won't be needing that PC-6001 anymore. And the video cable.

Well, here's the instructions:

1. Insert the tape into the data recorder.
2. Connect the SAVE/MIC/red cable into your PC and the LOAD/SPEAKER/white cable into your data recorder.
3. Adjust your audio settings so that the output will be loud enough, but not that loud.
3. Hit play/load/etc. on your data recorder and use any music editing program to record the resulting noise. Try frequencies 48000, 44100 Hz at 8-bit mono. It should be saved in WAV format.
4. Convert the WAV file into a CAS file using P6DatRec.
5. Try testing the file. If something wrong happens, repeat steps 3 - 4. It's mostly a trial-and-error process. But if it works, try playing until the end.
6. If it truly works, then great! You've successfully dumped a cassette game!

I tried conversion several times but it did not succceed.
It was useless though the volume was adjusted, and audio cables had been exchanged.
Perhaps, I think that the tone quality of the tape is not steady.
I'll buy another audio cable and try again.

I changed new audio cable and did again but no good.
So I gave up converting and uploaded PC-6001 "Ohotsuku ni Kiyu"
WAV files (44kHz, mono, 8-bit. not .p6 files) to below URL.
I hope someone converts it.

Thanks for providing the WAV files. I don't know too much about the conversion process but I'll take a look into it, but I don't think I'll get very far. Hopefully someone with a bit more knowledge can help out.

I think I now know the reason why it doesn't work. It's because of the header. You need to make some changes to it. Like the MSX version. See here.
