Only just started playing this game tonight, its fantastic!

However under XM6 the underwater part of level 2 (when you enter the building after crossing the dunes) appears as a solid blue graphic instead of being transparent, thus you can't see what is going on. It works fine in WinX68K so is there an option to fix it in XM6?

Hi,:D
XM6 does not support transparence.

Ah, that would explain it then, cheers. No fix I take it?

The reason I want to play it in XM6 is because WinX68k insists on mapping buttons wrongly even after I've changed them. Is there a fix for this either?

Did you have anime cinemas? My version seems to have had them ripped out...

Have you tried XM6 TypeG? If I remember correctly one of the biggest changes was transparency support.

Is it just me, or WinX68kHighSpeed can't save to floppies? I'm actually in third level of this game, but there still is "no data" after rebooting it. This is forcing me to use savestates.

Edit: Just have finished the game. Disk two was not needed at all - only first and third one. Something's very fishy here...

Edit2 : Just have tried to boot from disk 2 and surprise, surprise - it's an introduction disk. TOSEC style of namig sucks very badly, I was just going to delete it as an unnecessary one. They should be named like this:
Aquales (Disk 1 - Introduction Disk).dim
Aquales (Disk 2 - Program Disk).dim
Aquales (Disk 3 - Data Disk).dim

Sketcz - no, my version doesn't. You are sure they were present originally?

Wushu - Thanks, I hadn't even heard of that version. Just downloaded, so will give it a spin. I much prefer XM6 due to the previously mentioned mapping issue, so that is good news.

cpt. Misumaru Tenchi - I'd never even realised about the introduction disk. I've not tried saving to floppy with Winx68k as I barely use it (see above...think it just doesn't like my PC).

A website featuring Japanese PC music (I forget the URL, it's like an online radio), features the opening to Aquales, with English intro text. It's quite a lengthy intro, and there are screens showing ending cinemas and stuff.

When I played Aquales, it reset to the title after each level. I assumed the cinemas were ripped out, or it was some kind of copy protection thing.

Are you talking about this intro?: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d06S9OW8E88

As Misumaru mentioned before, you need to just boot 'disk 2'

I don't know if both videos are the same (too lazy to watch them :)), but yes, this is it - they both start like the intro I was talking about. Indeed it's rather lengthy one. And about cinematics between the levels, there were none in my version, but it didn't look like something was missing, the plot had a clear continuity.

Just a heads up, remember that you can use XM6 TypeG (supporting transparence) and is being updated often.. Games like Ys or Aquales are playable, in contrast to standard XM6.
