Hey Danjuro,

I'm the one that dug up that interview and had been making noise about this game (though I never said for certain it was Kagirnaki, just named it as the best candidate I found, since I glanced at a weird shot of Hover Attack and mistook it for a tank game). You're dead on about Hover Attack, but I'm glad to get Kagirnaki, too. It's an interesting game.

Anyway, just wanted to say thanks. I had been driving myself nuts trying to find any of these old tape-based X1 games. Seems like until something's in TOSEC it doesn't exist.

So, you're were that Sylar guy from NeoGAF?

*evil, just like the real Sylar*

I also posted it on the Gamespite forums ( http://www.gamespite.net/talkingtime/sh ... php?t=3664 ) just in case anyone else might be able to help.
Al though I think the matter is pretty much settled now.

No, I'm not Sylar, but Sylar copied my post from another forum. I pretty much always stick to Frogacuda no matter where I post.

That and we don't want to step up on Ben's next big project, do we *wink wink*

Go ahead buddy, it won't hurt, it'll help actually.

I'll finish PC98 cataloging first (once I finish Shiren, *hem*, when I mean when I have some free time), the current list has so many errors it's scarry (I'm like 85% done). After that I'd like to dig into X68000.

Cool thread btw.

I plan to upload my own X1 archive in a while, once I've sorted it out. Which means it will not contain everything I've ever managed to acquire, but still plenty of non-Tosec stuff.

Yeah, the TOSEC set is terrible. Not a single tape game. I'd really appreciate seeing a more complete set make it out.

"Tokugawa Corp." Sets

Yeah, bring down TOSEC.

EDIT: I said it as a joke, but on second thought it could be totally feasible.

My main problem with TOSEC is the lack of game information. Example : some pc98 games require to boot with the second disk, then go through a painful user disk creation before you can start playing. Some even have protections that'll block you halfway (Branmarker 2).

TOSEC is fine as it is for consoles, but when it comes to computers ... If they make a FM-Towns set how many Gigabytes will it be ?

And finally I am really puzzled by the whole 'bad dump' concept ...

That happens when you use the same cataloguing system you used in ROMs (when the data stored in ROMs is not variable, thus existing only one good dump) for floppys or CDs. The variety of formats and the inhability of dumping "clean" out-of-the-box floppys (as any disk out there could be or not 1:1 of the original any more), specially if we are talking about old japanese computers, makes it somewhat difficult to find exact copies of the original. A labeling system like "working", "disk check removed", or "cracked" can be way more efective than the current system being used by TOSEC.

Hey Danjuro, do you by any chance know how many levels does Hover Attack have? Or if it even has an ending? Even if it's just "congraturations".
