This is one of my favorite PC game companies from the late 80's early 90's. They created a huge number of action-RPG's and were one of Falcoms closest competitors at the time.

Their identity is confusing due to their numerous name changes, however this site (http://www.geocities.jp/rip_gamer/future/future.html) has a very good section outlining the evolution of the company. Here is a quick reference:

SEIN (1985-1987)
--------------------
MAX01
ホーリーグレイ (Holy Grail)
トリトーン (Tritorn)
ディープフォレスト (Deep Forest)
未来 (Future)

XAIN (1988-1989)
--------------------
JOTUMN
HERLESH
HIGHDEGER
バスタードスペシャル (Bastard Special)
CULUJU
トリトーンⅡ (Tritorn II)
トリトーン・ファイナル (Tritorn Final)
レインフォーサー(Reinforcer)
ガルフストリーム (Gulf Stream)

ZAIN (1989 - onwards)
-------------------------
アルフェイム (Alfaim)
神戸恋愛物語 (Not sure about English name)
DIOS
Tug of War
バルーサの復讐 (Vengeance of Balsa)

The site also has a paragraph of information regarding each stage of the company, but the Japanese is too advanced for me to understand. Is there anyone who has better Japanese knowledge that can describe what it says?

Also, I have found all of these games except for Tritorn Final for the x68k. I have never found it in any disk image collection and havnt even seen a screenshot of it or anything. Is there someone here that has it? If so uploading it will be greatly appreciated.

When I ran the 'XAIN' paragraph section of the site through a translator it said something about the company having difficulties developing Tritorn Final, but the translation is too poor to understand what actually happened and it Tritorn Final was actually released.

This most likely won't help you but Sliver X uploaded a very thorough Sharp X68000 master's set over here.
Of course, it does not have everything and your Tritorn Final is likely missing from the archive... but it's worth a try.

Hopefully someone translates that ambiguous 'XAIN' paragraph for you.

Heh, I've learned much since starting this topic.

Tritorn Final was released, and I managed to get an image of it some months ago. Its pretty much a incredibly shit x68k version of Tritorn 2. Seriously, its absolutely horrendous. Even Vengeance of Balsa, which is a pretty bad x68k game in its own right, is a masterpiece compared to Tritorn Final.

Basically Sein put out a lot of shit x68k games. Even the x68k version of Dios, despite having smooth scrolling, sucks compared to the pc88 original.

Dios CD still hasn't been found by the way. It is the final treasure of Sein to be found.

And I am going to refer to the company in general as Sein in English I guess, considering it was their original English spelling. This problem doesn't exist in Japanese because the kana never changed... you scoundrels Sein!

Or maybe I should switch between Sein, Xain and Zain depending on what game I'm talking about....aaaah.

What an awesome rambling post this was.

Do you happen to have their PC98 releases? I've got Tritorn 2 and Gulfstream on my Hd (with a "fix" ending) , but those are the only ones I've seen so far.

I only have the 98 version of Tritorn 2. Never come across any others, they seem to be incredibly rare.

Gontajins pc98 game list shows that just about every game they made was ported to the pc98. I'm sure all the pc98 versions are technically identical to the original pc88 versions, though it would still be nice to have them.

Yup, a lot of those earlier cross-platform releases seem to be very rare to find for the PC98 , not just the ones from Sein.
Concerning Tritorn 2, there are also some questionmarks regarding its release on other platforms (Sharp X1 and MZ 2500).

Another game Sein I know of is Aramo (アラモ) for the MSX released in 1986. The gameplay was split into 2 parts the isometric maze and the top view dungeon crawling. It had some RPG elements. You explore and find items, and as you defeat monsters you gain experience and raise your stats.

Sein/Xain/Zain lover Macaw,

This is the list of product of Sein/Xain/Zain Soft, which I made with information on the internet.
Please don't mind wrong English, it's not mine, this IS Sein/Xain/Zain English! :)

My targets are PC88, PC98, MSX, FM-7/77, X1 and X68k, and I don't know about any other platforms (ex. MZ-2500 etc.).
About the games with (*), I could find only the names, not any images or screen-shots.
Please be generous for wrong or missed information.

"Sein Soft" was named after a Germany word "sein" which means "being".
Xain and Zain has no meaning, maybe just changed to look much cooler if its name contains "X" or "Z", in their sight.

In my opinion, Sein/Xain/Zain was not so good game-maker.
Especially at the age of Xain, their games usually had bugs which never allowed players to achieve the goals.
But their music, graphic, sentences and game-designs are very characteristic, and that's why some retro-gamers are so addicted.
I am the one too, Macaw!

Isn't this a subtitle of Tritorn 2?

Thank you for correcting! I didn't find that repetition.

Hmm, Gontajin' s list has this a separate title, however. I'm not sure. Generation Msx has it with subtitle.

Yes, I totally agree with this. Also that is a great list, thank you!

Also, I have a question ~ does anyone know how to progress beyond the beginning of Galf Streem? You start in the city and there are heaps of gang members everywhere that you can fight, but defeating them doesn't seem to do anything. I've walked all around the city and went in every building but still have not been able to get anywhere. There is a bunch of police blocking off the eastern side of the city, but I don't know how to get beyond them.

Does anyone know what to do?

Macaw, I've just noticed that you state you have PC88 version of Cluju.

You see, there was a Hoot driver for whole Sein discography added lately, and that's the only one I'm missing. Could you be as kind as to up it someplace?

I've also added 3 MSX Sein games that had KSS rips done, so you can, say, compare PC88 Mirai with the MSX port.

Nope, I was just listing all of their known games I knew of in my first post, I don't actually have images for cluju, sorry. (Its probably the only sein game I'm missing apart from Dios cd)

Aww, bummer.
Well, thanks for clearing it up. Back to the drawing board...
