i tried searching here & internet.. none i could find. sure it's not the most common computer.

did anyone succeeded loading japanese games ? even the basic needed to start ?

i have a mz-700, european it seems bought from netherlands, i thought that was a no-region locked computer.. but i tried, tried, an entire night :? to load games from converted .wav, from walkman i put in output pc playing, etcc, inverting the switchs, . sure i read it's not the easiest computer to load a tape i read from few people trying reading european games., it needs sound level specific, etccc but i couldn't succeed anything. i looked some videos on youtube, they seem to load this so easily (in japan)..

so, do the japanese games can't be loaded on a european mz-700 ?! tried arkanoid, siderollB, etccc, is there a pal/ntsc quartz thing ? thanks for any readings or tests you had .. and if you succeeded, how precisely !!

I don't know if it can, but did you try converting European tapes using the same method and see if they load? If they do then you know it's not a problem with the conversions.

You could also try loading the WAV files in an emulator and see if they run.

Any chance you could share the WAV files you have been using? Where did you get those from? Japanese MZ-700 game preservation is almost non-existent (unless there's some obscure group/site about it that I'm not aware about) so anything you can contribute would be great.

when typing this.. yes brolly, that came to mind. damn.. i didnt test european wav files.. this way i would be pretty sure that there is a ntsc/pal problem . the wav loading to emulator you figure is a good hint, thanks !!

that was some search around fullmotionvideo forum & homepages of japanese developpers, and tried the 3 different basic & games as Zeplis, mappy, etcc but particularly Sideroll-B (which impressed me much from videos),

http://www.maroon.dti.ne.jp/youkan/mz700/zeplis/

kuoushi, yes i recognize most of files from names,

i tried several programs, windows dos, windows tools converting to wav with the different settings, polarity switch, . as said, didnt try wav i rebuild to emulators while.. only .m12.. which doesnt help to figure if i did something wrong in wav converting..

viewed this spanish video many times... even living near spain, my spanish is rough to get all the details..

but i had only one walkman to try off, the tape loader in mz721 is ok, i succeeded loading original tapes games (but no luck i did not have the Basic tape). because each japanese homebrew game i saw in youtube videos, was in need of basic load + game load.

now the white night i passed is times ago, and the machine is in some crate, but the fact is i didnt succeed anything comes back again..

i would have wanted to test, so wanted to buy the interface /usb from https://twitter.com/youkan700 but i can't figure where to buy it online, beepshop seems having some but not online sale, it emerges sometimes in mI68 events & other rare places (to be..)

next time i'll have to dig more & more the details.. but if someone can answer if the problem is not about ntsc 60hz/ Pal 50hz regions.. (as the machine in europe & japan is full RGB Scart, i figured that was the same :| .. that sounded perhaps too easy  )
