A number of computers have titles which were ground breaking or original and are associated with that computer. For example (to name one on each)

Sinclair ZX81 - 3D Monster Maze
Apple II - Prince of Persia
Commodore 64 - Mission Impossible, Wizball
Atari 8 Bit - Boulderdash
Sinclair Spectrum - Ant attack
Commodore Amiga - Defender of the Crown
Acorn BBC Micro - Exile (thats Exile and not a misspelling of Elite ;) )

However I was thinking about machines like the MSX (seperately for MSX 1 and MSX 2 standards), Fujitsu FM-7/8, Fujitsu FM Towns, Sharp MZ-700, Sharp X1, Sharp X68000, NEC PC-6001, NEC PC-8001 and to a degree the 8801 and 9801.

Now it doesn't have to be the best version of the game, just a game that originally was on that system. For example I am mostly sure that Hudsonsofts Bomberman originally appeared on the Sharp MZ-700 and that Sokoban did appear on the NEC PC-8801 first (although FM-7 and PC-6001Mk2 versions came out soon after). It should also not be an improved version of an existing game or an arcade conversion.

Any suggestions?

Hi Jamtex,

My suggestion:

Fujitsu FM-8 - SameGame (not commercial, but enough historical)

MSX1 - King's Valley, Eggerland

MSX2 - Puyopuyo, Metal Gear

NEC PC-8801mkIISR - Thexder

NEC PC-9801 - The Queen of Duelist, Touhou Project

Sharp X1 - Thunder Force, Xanadu

Shrap X68000 - STAR WARS Attack on the DEATH STAR

Probably some of them are not so famous worldly.

I've heard that the original Bomberman of Hudson is for Sharp X1, but I'm not sure.

For the X68000 I'd go with Etoille Pricess and Akumajo Dracula. But that platform is interesting and significant in the sense that is was used to develop quite a few CAPCOM CPS arcade games such as Street Fighter II. That is why it is host to so many pretty much arcade perfect CAPCOM classics such as Strider, Final Fight and Ghouls 'n Ghosts.

No love for X68000 Geograph Seal? Not only is it system exclusive, it really demonstrates effective technical ability of the platform *and* is a pretty fun little title to boot.

Some interesting suggestions, some people did not read the brief properly though. :)

Going to go through the lists and will comment on them later...

I have looked into it more and the first release I can find for Bomberman is on the Sharp MZ700 however a slew of other versions came after.
