Hi,

So, my X1 has been behaving properly up until recently. I just moved to a new apartment, and i was very careful while transporting it, but for some reason the tape drive just pooped out.

I was trying to test it yesterday, and i popped a cassette in. Everything seemed normal but suddenly i noticed the the motor was having trouble turning the reels. Soon enough, it made some noises and now the drive won't read anything at all or even spin

I think something might be stuck. The unit is disassembled, and i've separated the drive assembly from the rest of the computer. Something may be stuck and stopping the main gear from turning, but i don't know what it might be. From observation, i can tell that the gear attempts to turn for a second, and then gives up.

Next weekend i'll attempt to disassemble the tape mech. I didn't try this weekend because i was afraid i wouldn't be able to put it back together. I could try replacing all of the capacitors.

Picture: Circled is the gear i'm talking about

Anybody have any info?

Thanks guys

One of the belts had come loose and got tangled.
I removed it and replaced it with a rubber band that had the same dimensions. Not sure if the belt was original anyway, but it works well now.

BTW the model of this computer is CZ-801C
