The next two entries, Ken to Mahou and Dungeon:

http://blog.hardcoregaming101.net/2013/ ... sword.html

http://blog.hardcoregaming101.net/2013/ ... pc-88.html

I'm still not very good at most of these games... Be sure to also read the comments, as there's some very insightful info by someone who goes by the nick Brain Breaker (is he on this forum, too?).

In the next few weeks I plan to cover Seiken Densetsu, Poibos Part 1 (which even has a Windows remake), Panorama Toh and Manji, before taking a break and preparing for 1984.

I've been speaking with Brain Breaker via email - decent chap. He didn't mention this forum. I might drop him another line and point this place out. He's quite knowledgeable on the subject of Japanese computers.

Regarding a lot of these old RPGs, they have the names of the developers on the title screens. How easy do you reckon it would be to find some of them. Not a lot of the early programmers stayed with the industry. I'm working on a project related to this, but I'm wondering if we can pull an Ishikawa with some of these names.

T.Nagase = Toshiyuki Nagase = 長瀬 敏之

His profile on the back of Parallel World box:

A quick google search directs me to this page:

Email sent! With perfect Keigo, I believe. Does anyone have in-game screens f Parallel Worlds? I'm not sure what it's about.

Trickless, I've already spoken briefly with Ben about my project, but these little profiles on the back of Enix game boxes, and any general help, will extremely useful. Is there a specific database where the box scans are available?

I'll be making a topic on Monday, but basically: I think we'll be able to track down and speak with a lot more obscure developers if it comes to fruition.

Scans are mostly from the PC88 game library. Wikipedia (of all places) looks to have compiled together the Enix ones in their citations: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_E ... uter_games

The PC88 library is run by a guy called Romi, right? I found two possible email addresses on the site. Anyone know which is the best one? Is it the Zzyx email?

Also, still no reply from Mr Nagase. Though if it's a work email I doubt he checked over the weekend.

This one looks interesting... Does anyone have this MZ-700 game, or any information concerning it's publishing date?

Also, next episode of my blog series:

I haven't gotten around to do more of these for much too long, so Discoalucard picked up the slack for another blog post.

Warning! This is another eroge (and a morally very questionable at that), so this is very much NSFW!

EDIT: Oh, and it looks like I haven't posted the previous one here, Falcom's Panorama Toh:

By the way, I found Super Dungeon, it's in the game pack that's named SP88-07.d88

Got three more of these done in the last few weeks. The latest is Mugen no Shinzou, and it contains links to all the previous ones:

Out of interest, one of these was just auctioned for 22,500 yen, which was more than I was prepared to pay.

This is not "Dark Age" anymore, but I didn't want to make an extra thread. I'm currently trying to play Lunatic Dawn (the first one, for now) and documenting my progress on the HG101 forum:

Hey, I've revived/rebooted the series, this time in another medium (but you can still read a text version on HG101 if you don't want to put up with my attempt at voice over):

OK, so one of the very early games we don't have access to is currently up for auction. I've placed a bit, but I cannot expend much more than 4,000 yen right now, so of course I was outbid immediately. I don't expect this item can be bought for less than 10,000 yen, worst case much more. 3 days left from now.

If I can somehow buy it, my plan would be to scan all the materials and find someone to dump the program. If anyone is interested in chipping in, PM me for more info.

(Up to a certain degree, I would be ready to refund contributions even if I buy the game, but a while later once I am able to. If there is only one contributor but with a major amount, I'd alternatively gladly give up the item without compensation for my share once preservation is secured, especially if the contributor can also dump PC-80 software. Please be aware that if I fail to buy it, I can only refund after fromjapan.com releases the funds, which apparently takes 20 days)
