I've tried following this guide on how to format a HDD in a real x68k. Seemingly it doesn't work accordingly, as in BIOS (or swich) there is no SCSI_ID entry:

Also the HD_MAX option was set to 0, so I had to change that, and every time I close the emulator and start it again next time I need to change that value.

When in format.x this is what shows up when I choose the 2nd option (to format HDD instead of FDD):

My SCSI settings:

It's a 200MB HDD image

I also tried to create and select a SASI HDD under Miscellaneous and that didn't show up either... plus it would only let me create a 40MB drive. :|

1.) Only iplrom30.dat and cgrom.dat should be available in your WinX68K HighSpeed folder.
You must delete other rom files such as iplrom.dat, iplromco.dat,
iplromxv.dat, scsiexrom.dat and scsiinrom.dat if available. This is important!

2.) Run WinX68K HighSpeed.exe

3.) Set up SCSI (Select Option->Config->SCSI).
SCSI Drive = External ID = 0 UNIT = 0 Filenamae = XXXXX.hds
"Select SCSI" Setting in SRAM = External SCSI($ED0070 bit3=1)

4.) Enable External SCSI (Select Option->External SCSI)
Default Setting.

5.) Boot Human68k from FDD0.
Insert the Human68k disk image and and make an reset.

6.) Run switch.x for setting the boot device.
You must change the BOOT device from STD to SCSI0.

7.) Eject FDD0

8.) Reset

Thanks for the reply. It seems I had iplrom.dat instead of iplrom30.dat, yet I'm still not able to format...

Also I can't boot from the HDD as it isn't formatted yet and it also doesn't have the system files installed yet.

Here a package for you.

Copy all files (unzipped) in a folder.
Start WinX68K HighSpeed.exe to test the bootable SCSI Harddisk image (dracula.hds) is running for you or not.
For the test you donĀ“t need to change the settings.
Additional you will find a description (Formatting a SCSI HardDisk.doc) how do create a bootable SCSI Harddisk image.

It does boot correctly from the HDD file, luckly. The only problem is that now the HDD file shows up in the format tool, but I can't input the size of the partition I want to format, shows me this:

It complains something about a key? (it's the only word I can read since I don't know much kanji ^^;) I tried giving it a label but that still doesn't fix it.
