The author states it should work with any standard floppy-compatible interface, and lists PC-88 within the supported target computers (PC-98 has not been tested).
The price goes about 80 euros without case, but if you are in shortage of floppy drives this could be the solution.

What do you people think about it? Anyone tried something similar?

I have one and I'm waiting for another. I have the Revision C and I'm waiting for the revision F. They are the same in terms of capabilities but the Revision F comes in a slim 3.5" case to be installed as a drop in replacement for a regular floppy drive. Right now I am using my revision C with my FM77AV40SX as that is my newest computer and until I can work out some sort of fixed disk solution for it, the HxC floppy emulator is as close to mass storage as I have for it. Once I have the revision F, that will go into my FM77AV40SX and the revision C will go into my Amstrad CPC 6128+ to be used in menu mode. For those who are unfamiliar with the device, if you hook it up to an Amstrad CPC, an Atari ST, or an Amiga, you can control the device through an onscreen menu instead of through the use of the LCD and buttons. I plan to grab 2 more, one to go in an Amiga 2000 or possibly 3000, and one to go in an Atari 1040STe to be used as gaming machines. I'm also going to see how the onscreen menu works and see if I can't port it to the FM77AV series machines, as well as perhaps a few other machines such as the Spectrum, the MSX and a few others. In terms of how it works, it's fantastic. It in an indispensable piece of hardware for the classic computing enthusiast!
