Here is the game + Savestate. Floppy disk version with the midi enabled.

Works with XM6 and XM6 TypeG versions 2.05.

http://www.sendspace.com/file/bjkk1k

After loading the savestate, quickly put the 2 floppy disks in the disk drives and then save the state again so the state knows your computers specific floppy directory locations and doesn't crash when the game returns to the main menu.

This state is with midi music already enabled.

IMPORTANT: The game has an emulation error where you cant see whats currently selected on the main menu. On my save state the game is already on the start game option once you exit from the demo mode to the main menu, so just press Z or X or a joystick button and you will start a new game. Once the game returns to the main menu after you have a game over in the game, it will AUTOMATICALLY have the continue option selected so you can just press a button again to immediately continue.

If you want to access other main menu options like the music mode or configuration screen, its a matter of trial and error, just keep reloading the savestate and trying again. If you want you can of course just create a new savestate once you have things like the music mode selected so you can easily access it in the future.

Also note that the save state I provided above was taken with my joystick selected as Device A, so when you load the state there will likely be no input. If you want to use keyboard, go to tools -> options -> joystick and select joykey as Device A. Of course if you have a joystick and want to use it, just select it instead of joykey.

I have a question delicious:

In The Last Tempest, when a stage is cleared the game calculates a stage and time bonus, but in the version we have the score is never actually added to the score counter after a stage. Do you know what is causing this? Maybe a problem caused by the protection bypass procedure, or perhaps something else?

Its hard to disassemble this game's mc68000 machine codes for me.
I have no knowledge about this Motorola's family mpu.
In addition, this instruction codes makes and modifies itself dynamically during execution of it.

Actually ,I wanted to find out protection check points correctly.
But It's all I can do to skip the something like a first protection check point on the Emulator.
Therefore, the bypass offered by me may cause something troubles.
No cursor in menu and no addition of the score counter after a stage.

I just keep getting "initialising the virtual machine failed" whenever I try to open this emulator :?

Edit: after downloading three other versions I found one that worked.

And I just came back from beating this game. And lemme tell you it gets realy damn hard real fast (unless you run into a glitch where you'll randomly "complete" the level and move on).

I would also like to say that Gabriel, the boss of stage 10, is an incredibly unfair son-of-a-bitch.

You have a floating platform in the middle of nowhere, in an isometric view, and this thing constantly teleports around and shoots fireballs at you, and mind you it can only be hit for about one second after it randomly shows up somewhere, and not only will the fireballs and random chance usualy prevent you from being able tot ake advatage of it, but this guy loves to constantly spawn the bottomless nothing next to the platform like five times in a row, and given how short of a timer you have for the fight, that's just insane.

Still I enjoyed this and am glad I beat it. Great visuals, novel idea and religious blasphmery galore !

If I'd have to sum this game up in a single sentence I'd say it's like Snake, Rattle & Roll, if developed by satanists :P

I absolutely love this game, but for some reason the controls lock up for about a second whenever changing directions/hitting two directional keys in succession.

Would anyone happen to be familiar with this issue or ways around it? Maybe I don't have XM6 configured properly.

Thanks Snake for the re-up :)

For the record, NFG Games followed up on Delicious' effort to understand the copy protection:
