I've been excited about this project for a while, but haven't had time to test it myself. How is it?
How does it compare to VM software, for example??

The network option works with Win95/Win98/Win2000 only.
The *.VHD format (Virtual PC fixed size) is supported.
You can use the NHC tool for the conversion.
Install the GD5430, GD5440 (Cirrus) driver if you use the Windows Accelerator.

I have some graphical issues in NP2 in some games (Venus, Dare mo Shiranai - on screenshots)
some graphical issues. I remember how to get rid of this crap in Anex, but that solution won't work in NP2

I don't like this kind of game genre.
Howsoever, it looks like the game is running with 5 MHz (GDC).
Reset NP2 while holding down the End key on the keyboard so that BIOS appears, select the second option and set the GDC to 2.5 MHz.

or edit the *.ini
DIPswtch=3e 71 7b to DIPswtch=3e f3 7b

It's no wonder I couldn't find this option, even though I remembered it was about GDC. Thanks, Reset+End helped, although I already had DIPswtch=3e f3 7b in my .ini

This is awesome! Thank you very much for the news, Anna!

I have troubles with Japanese, but I understand that this Neko Project 2 version supports launching Windows 98, right? I would love to test it.

Unfortunately, I guess that there are only 2 ways to test this:

1) Finding an HDI image of a hard disk with a Windows 98 already installed (I have searched for it, but this seems to be impossible to find!)

or...

2) Making a clean install with a Japanese Windows 98 CD over this emulator (this is really hard for people who don't speak Japanese).

Both options seem really difficult... Anyone could give me some tip to be able to try Windows 98 in this emulator?

I would even love to port it to Xbox (the same way that I ported Neko Project 2), although I'm not sure if the old Xbox would be powerful enough to run it at a good framerate...

A new PC-9821 emulator has come.
It is named SL9821 and it emulates PC-9821 S1/S2.
PC-9821 S1/S2 is the first model of PC-9821 series.

SL9821 official site
http://www.satotomi.com/sl9821/
download page(binary and source code)
http://www.satotomi.com/sl9821/sl9821_dl.html

You may need to create *.ROM and *.DAT files by MKROMIMG.EXE and RECRTM.EXE.

It seems to be that lip-animation of Policenauts may work on SL9821.
more details...

Thanks for the info :)

A brand new PC-98 emulator in 2016? That can run Policenauts and Windows 2000? Impressive! Only problem is, it requires its own set of BIOS ROMs. That's not going to be easy without access to the real hardware.

It's nice that there's a new emulator, it's just a shame that it needs very specific ROMS. Until compatible romsets get spread around, that limits its use to people that own fully functioning examples of very specific models of PC-9821, which, as someone who would quite like to play his copy of Policenauts perfectly, is annoying.

Can anybody assist how I can get music/sound in バンドくん Band-kun (KOEI, 1990)

Is the .hdi from NeoKobe pack ready to go with MIDI sound?

I am thinking the install needs a MIDI driver adding to the disk?

Cheers
