I just looked at Ebay for PC9801, and found these. NOT ONE OF THEM IS LESS THAN $1000USD.

Please explain why such an ANCIENT computer that can't stand up to any modern PC in terms of CPU speed, graphics quality, etc, costs FAR MORE than most modern PCs?

These may also be overpriced relative to other sources such as Yahoo, but still the fundamentals are the same.
A modern PC is a widely available, currently produced commodity. PC-98 and other vintage computers are short in supply while being in demand, and not available in your average store. They don't compete with each other because of this and other reasons, so using hardware comparsions isn't a particular useful metric.

Those prices are taking the piss though. I have bought several PC-9821 laptops for a fraction of those prices.

I might have a PC-9821 laptop bundle (external floppy, cd-rom, network adapter, Windows 98 and some other gubbins) for sale soon.

Their are tons of reasons why the value jumps, and why it is high. I could name
millions.

So far I know this is a vintage machine, it was not often released in the west,
and the chipset might be of some use to a specific buyer, also it cost a hell
of lot to import, because of sturdy parts. However I also see a widely used
game machin, that was and is still popular, and still used today, even if it
is emulated. The emulation is not perfect, and various features can not be
accessed.

With the way the world is heading with computers, the advertisment about the value
of machines is considered relics, or ancient products of a lost time. That is the
current childish marketeer user ( the commercial consumer ) instead of me talking.
