ADV for adult.
Seems to the full voice CD version of DOR series FD by D.O.
With 5 stories and some extra contents.
ImageImageImage
This game is divided into the first and latter volume, and composed by 4 CD images as total.
The Boot FDI is optimized for playing both First and Latter volume.
Please set on booting "First Volume CD 1.ccd" to play the first volume, and set "Latter Volume CD 1.ccd" to play it.

First Volume & Boot FDI:
PART.1
PART.2
PART.3
PART.4
PART.5

Latter Volume:
PART.1
PART.2
PART.3
PART.4
PART.5

Allpass=Jokey Folks

Caution:
Image
It requires to replace the CD on the way to play.
Should accord to the following methods for it.

1. Unmount (eject) the CD.
2. Mouse clicking and disappearing the message.
3. Mount (set) the CD specified.

The CD won't be recognized if it's replaced directly.

Btw, the problem is it does not sound the voice of CD-DA at all on playing the game though it sounds on the prologue incompletely.
(You can confirm it without the Latter Volume of CD if it takes time for download.)
I've tried QVC_AVS.SYS instead of AVSDRV.SYS, but it didn't solved.
Here's the one. Boot.FDI (QVC_AVS.SYS)
So I'm looking for the other good devices for CD-DA.

I know it's able to install in HD, but the result was same.
Moreover, it requires the CD as usual if it has done.
I think that HDI is unnecessary to play though it maybe run faster on the real machine.

For about virtual drive software, I'm usually using DAEMON Tools v3.47 with analog audio on.
I'd like to refer the result by using on the other one if anyone could it.

I know there're still remaining some troubles for the others about using CD-DA on emus.
But please teach me if anyone knows something good method for it.
Thanks in advance!

Is it CD-DA or PCM?

With real drives, analog mode (1x) should make CD audio work without problem.

In digital mode, the possible culprit is the speed of the drive. The PC-98 emulators don't seem to like any CD speed above 4x, and 1x might be required for proper CD audio operation. But most modern drives don't support speeds slower than 4x nowadays.

As for virtual drives, I don't know if forcing Daemon Tools in 1x would make a difference.

Thanks for information.
Yes, I think it's CD-DA. But isn't PCM a codec of CD-DA ?
(I'm sorry if it's a mistake)
I know some games by D.O. use PCM sounds, and these have the ploblems, too.
However, the problem of this seems to be different from it.
It becomes the following by arranging this problem.

On the prologue:
BGM and voice sounds correctly though it stops on the latter part of it.

On the story part of game:
BGM sounds correctly, but voice doesn't sound at all.

On the extra contents:
No sound (But I cannot conclude whether it's due to the sound problem or it should be originally so).

Perhaps, BGM and voice might be contained with different form of sound each other...

And it sounds similar both Anex86 and T98-Next.
So I think the problem is not due to the setting of emus but devices or the settings of Windows side.

Btw, how can I confirm my CD drive whether it's 1x or 4x ?
All I could confirm on Windows side is "use digital audio enabled" the property tab of virtual drive.
And the result was same if it's been disabled.

Hello.
It experimented.
I also am usually using "DAEMON Tools v3.47" on WindowsXP.

WindowsXP becomes a blue screen when CD-DA is sounded if the SCSI4CDN device is used with T98NEXT and it stops, with analogue audio option.

In Windows 98, CD-DA rings normally when the SCSI4CD device is used. Windows 98 doesn't stop.

The following errors went out when music CD was referred with Anex86.
Image
To begin with,CDX.SYS for Anex86 seems not support CD-DA.

"DAEMON Tools v3.47" might be a cause with T98NEXT.

I think you might be mistaking something and inserting first disk of DOR ベストセレクション 下巻 when you need to insert second disk of DOR ベストセレクション 上巻. Not sure though, just a thought.

@delikea:

Thanks for experiment.
I see... Incidently, I'd never tested to play some usual music CD on emus.
Actually, Anex86 seems not to support CD-DA as you say.
But I could play CD-DA correctly by using T98-Next + DAEMON 3.47 though my OS is also WinXP.
It's both usual music CD (converted into image file) and CD-DA of this game. And of course, real CD on real drive, too.
Here's the one. CDPlay.FDI (This on purpose includes some extra files for the comparison.)
Anyway, I could confirm surely by using this that the CD-DA of voice should certainly sound on playing the game.

And mysteriously, the CD-DA of prologue part surely sounds on Anex86, too.
Incidently, Policenauts also sounded on Anex86 though it similarly contains CD-DA.
Please try the one I uploaded before if it's good.

@Knurek-Hoot:

Thank you. But I'm sorry, it's not so. :(
The game itself doesn't boot if the wrong disk was put.
And for instance, it's not required to replace the CD when play the first scenario "加奈子さんの憂鬱" of "上巻Disc 1",
But the voice doesn't sound in that case, too.

Anyway, I hope to everyone it's confirmed by yourself though I must apologize because the file size of this game is too large to download.

Try to use cdsdmini.
On many japanese site this uses.
But it is necessary to compile file itself.
I can not.

Thanks for advice, but sorry... what you say seems to be inverse for me. :(
Actually, these 2 SYS files have ever been developed for T98-Next.

CDSD.SYS (compiled STD):
Supported to play CD-DA and available only its source file (necessary to compile by oneself).
This is all used for boot FDIs of CD images that I've ever uploaded, of course.
(In my recollection, I think the ones uploaded by Ashura were so, too.)

CDSDMINI.SYS:
Not supported to play CD-DA and available as compiled SYS file.
This is available at here though I don't think that there's a necessity so much to obtain it.
http://www.vector.co.jp/soft/dos/hardware/se007453.html

In short, CDSD.SYS is already used for playing (It's the only one with the possibility to play this game accurately on T98-Next).

Yes, do beware. the last I tried and put the wrong cd id number and BSOD (blue screen of dead) appear.

you will have to disable the other and enable what you want to use.

I myself have never experienced the blue screen while being playing this though the causes might depend on each PC environment. :?

Anyway, one thing I can say is that...
2 or more drive letters need not be set to your virtual drive for playing this if someone is trying to do it.
You can replace the CD by the methods I explained before.

And, the problem I pointed out is not related to the problem concerning the replacement of CD to my regret at all. :(

In my environment,
The Realtek HD sound driver is causing BSOD (blue screen of dead). It turned out.
Therefore, there might be WindowsXP that doesn't occur it.
I will change the sound card.

It proposes it to everyone.
When questioning like this, will you write host's environment?

You're right Jokey, PCM is the audio codec of CDDA. But I was thinking in computer terms :)

CDDA = CD audio
PCM = wave files

I couldn't try your game (my connection always dies before I can get the complete files, and it seems I can't resume the downloads). But according to your description, I think the voices come from wave files, not from CD audio tracks. Usually, CD audio is used for music, not for character voices.

Have you tried listening to the CD in a CD player? If there is no CD audio track, then it means the voices are PCM and your problem comes from the PCM driver. I know AVSDRV has a lot of problems with emulators (Policenauts in particular). The Card86 PCM driver is not perfect but it usually works better. But you said that you tried it already and the result is the same... I'm sorry that I can't help you more :(

About CD audio: I believe Anex86 and its CDX driver don't support CDDA at all. T98-Next supports CDDA, but you need the full CDSD driver, not the mini driver which can't play CD audio tracks at all. In my experience with Policenauts, you need to burn the disc image to a CD-R and lower the CD speed to x4 with a tool like Nero DriveSpeed. This way, the CD audio won't be cut off prematurely between two data track access.

T98-Next doesn't work in digital CD mode. When playing a real game disc, the emulator will automatically switch to analog CD mode (1x). But in order to hear the CD audio, you need to connect your CD drive to your sound card with a good old CD-ROM audio cable. The IDE cable is not enough, it only works for digital mode (4x, 52X, etc).

@Kaminari:

Thanks for your valuable information! :D
But it's too regrettable for me that the problem is not actually confirmed on your PC...
So I re-uploaded it with dividing only CD 1 of First Volume (the problem is able to be confirmed only it).
Each file sizes are 24.48MB (Sorry, I cannot find any other good way).

CD1.000 http://sharebee.com/cf4b3e7c
CD1.001 http://sharebee.com/551643f8
CD1.002 http://sharebee.com/d22d7a11
CD1.003 http://sharebee.com/9fa2dd2c
CD1.004 http://sharebee.com/16260fc3
CD1.005 http://sharebee.com/f9e9b02f
CD1.006 http://sharebee.com/b3d85cb7
CD1.007 http://sharebee.com/aa346271
CD1.008 http://sharebee.com/2e054f65
CD1.009 http://sharebee.com/e140d36f

And here's FDIs.rar (558KB).
http://sharebee.com/bc673ca5

Contents:
Boot.FDI
Boot(QVC_AVS.SYS).FDI
CDPlay.FDI
UTL.FDI
CD1.bat

Please put "CD1.000 - CD1.009" and "CD1.bat" into same directory, and click CD1.bat.

For listening to the voice tracks:
I could not certainly inspect the audio tracks by the Explorer of Windows.
However, CD-DA seems to be contained in this CD. Please use CDPlay.FDI with CD1 to confirm it.

The introduction starts first, and next, the voice and BGM (it's very same as the prologue of this game which sounds on playing) will be heard.
And by inputting "CDP N" several times, you'll able to listen to the voice tracks (girl's dialog part) of CD-DA.

I've thought it's very one which should be sounded on playing... Is it my misunderstanding? (;^_^A)

Burninig to the CD-R:
Sorry, I've not confirmed it yet.
Please give me a little time because the preparation is necessary for it.
