After hearing so much about Yu-No I decided to play it too. I've passed the prologue, but now I'm lost in the meaning behind those crystal balls in the bottom-right corner of the screen. If I click on a ball, one of them disappears or it brings up a some kind of map. What's it for anyway?

Clicking the shining gem brings up the map, but clicking one of the other balls places what Danjuro calls 'bookmarks'

Once one has been placed then whenever you want to 'go back in time' you can transport yourself back to one of the points that you placed one. This is required if you get to a dead end because you missed picking up a required item or something. Its also the way to see all the different route changes and game endings.

By the way, the music is just too awesome!

They can also merely serve as helping hands, if you put them at what I'd call hubs : place where you got lots of choices (You ll learn to spot those) and you have to get to again, and again. Quite important as the game's true ending is only accessible throught 100% completion of the map.

My bad, it is the sound test which is only accessible through that mean. Well one could argue this is the true object of the game ;)

Sounds more like an evil scheme to make people buy the soundtrack.

The sound test is really awesome in its own right, you gotta see it :D
It's not that difficult actually, excepting for one particular weirdo branch, just a bit tedious.

Thanks for the info guys, I think I got the hang of it.

@Macaw - You could download the music from Hoot Archive. That's what I did.

well you can start a save game or a new game which is good since you get all the magic balls that you have but you need to collect it.

I suggest you keep one spare ball and another can be use to make a check point. if you got no balls you cannot view the path map.

I suggest you play thru a path line if not for example I got an ending that ended with you getting a photo but after that a gal (spoiler). Then you go back and get to the place where you caught her boss raping her, if you show him the photo to threaten a him and you change to good ending and get a special keycard which you need to give to a reporter when you meet her in her apartment.

you get to collect the rock that the blue haired gal lost and when you get to the ending talk to her and give her the rock to get a key that you need to open the locked door in your house.

I am stuck at the tomb stone which is a bit hard to unlock.

Here you go this is the cd version of Yu-no , I couldn't get it to boot with Anex86 after converting the disks to Anex86 format so maybe someone here can figure that one out (maybe needs to have windows installed to work?)

Have fun.

I know it was long ago, but can someone re-upload this version?
