https://dosbox-x.com/wiki/Guide%3AManaging-image-files-in-DOSBox%E2%80%90X

It clearly lists .NFD (and later .NHD) as supported formats, but has anyone succeeded in getting them to work? Both NFD r0 and NFD r1 files just give a generic failure message.

I'm not really familiar with DOSBox-X and wasn't even aware it emulates the PC-98.

The wiki says PC-98 support requires version 0.83, but the lastest dev build available is 0.82 alpha. What gives?

The wiki may be out of date; the version I have is just dated (DOSBox-X 2023.10.06) and it will indeed run PC-98 games, once you set the machine configuration to pc98.

That being said, even some HDI images refuse to mount, which is a little puzzling... that format is really simple, and the image in question has a standard DOS installation and FAT12, nothing else seems to have a problem with it.
