This isn't something I intend to do, but someone was asking around about it elsewhere and now I'm kind of curious.

Do any emulators have a way to boot PC-98 games from a floppy drive connected to a modern computer? I'd assume "no", but I have no idea. The next best thing, I would think, would be dumping the files from that drive and then using those. Or of course just using existing dumps - this is more for the sake of it, rather than dumping/playing anything that hasn't been archived before.

The SL9821 emulator has support for real floppy drives. But it uses its own format for dumping floppy disks. I tried it, games have copy protection won't work that way.

If there are no problems with the game, then it is better to use existing dumps.
Most of the original games have copy protection, you dump will be useless for the play game.
