Hello,

I've been making kana patches for various Japanese games - auto replacing kanjis with their readings.

My current focus is the Elle remake (Elf, 2000).

I was able to auto dump the texts and generate the readings, but the problem is that I can't patch the .MES files with kana phrases that are longer than the original kanji phrases.

I had a similar issue with Elysion (Terios, 2000) but I was able to patch it by writing a .PBX unpacker/packer.

I'm aware that YU-NO got a fan translation so I was wondering if any of the tools used are available? I'm pretty sure Elf uses the same engine - AI5WIN.

The only thing I need is to be able to patch the .MES files with text of any length.

In the meantime I've was able to patch Elle with romajis - as ascii can fit more easily, though some phrases still need to be cut.

I've checked other Elf games and it seems most requires that too, with the exception of older PC98 releases such as Dragon Knight (1989) which I was able to patch successfully.

Thanks!
