This PC98 thing has become some kind of never ending odyssey.
I think I wrote somewhere before that I bought PC98 desktop which is principly a 486. Windows was already installed but I'd prefered DOS being installed.
When I tried to format the HD by means of the first DOS 5.0A system disk, I first of all received a message saying that some kind of "incorrectness" had occured in the area of "system adminstration" (システム管理域が不正です). Nonetheless I was given the option to format the HD and for sure I chose that option. I could hear the FDD working for 2 seconds but then nothing would happen anymore, just a "please wait a moment..." message was blinking but I could hear that no progress took place. After waiting 10 minutes I pressed the reset button. Now Windows wouldn't start again either. Only a message written in red letters informs me about a HD "malefunction" (ハードディスク障害で停止と申し付け下さい).
If I use the Windows system FD to boot, I'm still given the option to format the HD but the process of formating won't come to an end. The same goes again for the DOS system FD.
I found something on that topic in Japanese forum. This incorrectnes in the area of system adminstration will remain active until the HD is formatted. But how am I supposed to format now? As I mentioned, the process of formating by means of those system disks won't finish?
Thanks
