The HDI image that is widespread over the internet for the shooting game Metal Force doesnt appear to have the sound working in it. Has anyone ever got it working? I've tried a bunch of emulator settings, not sure if the problem is related to the HDI image or the emulation though.

Thank you al32gabby, putting that into the autoexec file made the sound work!

Edit: Damn, appears now the game randomly crashes. Dunno whats causing this now...

Can anyone else confirm to be able to play through stage 1 with the music working?

Here's an HDI I snagged from another thread on here: https://mega.nz/#!9txRzRaR!F4jIr6wdr8MT ... n_nTsscNHY

It runs smoothly with all music available.

Thank for the help guys, unfortunantly the game still crashes after playing for a short time. I almsot got to the end of the first stage once but it crashed.

If you play with no music it doesnt crash, so there is a problem with the music somewhere...

I fixed it. Tested up to the middle of Stage 2.

Due to some kind of emulation bug in np2, the game will still crash when playing the Game Over and Name Entry 2 music when the PC-9801-86 board is used. This only seems to happen in np2.
To avoid this, set the sound device to Speak Board. You should be using the Speak Board anyway, because Metal Force is one of the few games that actually takes advantage of it.

This game absolutely refuses to run with sound on my machine, probably because I have a YMF288. I tried the suggested START.BAT file but the game just quits to a hung DOS prompt instantly. Is there any way to swap in a newer sound driver or convince the existing sound driver that I have a YM2203 so I can at least hear something?
