So... as far as I can tell, the EXEs from these version of windows are not platform specific (i.e., a windows app for the PC-9821 should work on any Intel chipset with windows compatibility.) Windows takes care of all the drivers, etc that prevents most PC-98 DOS games from running on regular MS-DOS (Say, DosBox)

Rather ironically, getting Win16 apps to run on modern OSes is considerably more of a pain that getting a PC-98 DOS app to run... my question is this:

Do you think I should include Win16 games that were originally released for the PC-98 as "PC-98 games" or not?

Trying to write a paragraph. Haven't been in college for awhile.

Keep in mind that early game consoles all evolved from there computer gaming prototypes. Colceovision programs ( can't remember name ) can run on SEGA Mark-III hardware. Before consoles SEGA had an micro computer and out did it with the Mark-III. Later a floppy and keyboard add-on not released. Atari and Amiga joy/mouse ports all can work with most SEGA products uptil the Saturn. The Saturn has 24-bit programming but censoring. The PCE ports matches early apple ports. Even the Graphics Adapter and RF matches.

Oh yes for you PC-98 peeps. The PC-98 actually has an Motorola processor inside but the SEGA Genesis/Mega drive have an even more powerful version of the same chip. I was reading ( Browsing Japanese internet for info on my PC-98Duo+ ) that some people ( if any can remember ) dream of enhancing the power of the computer by stripping out that chip and replacing it. I forget if it was the other round. Just to see it go faster. I get why a person would want that.

We almost had it going with the SNES-2 but Nintendo saw SONY PlayStation, and decided to botch anything related to SNES.

In fact I just discovered the PS2 was discriminated for being considered a computer to some and that is why we have the cough--arrghh 2004 pleehh model that scratches up game discs. It is that easy to run programs of it now. It even have keyboard support. It is amazing what the PS2 can do at this age. Even thanks SONY later hardware release.

So why not run NEC-PC games on the PS2 and call it a day. Oh wait I know, for some reason I just had to have that insanely priced hardware and original games.

The answer is no. There are many differences. I know an emulator could give the Windows 3.0 the boost it needs ( downloads section ) to run PC-98 games flawlessly. But stand alone with the entire library no.

Please do not temptation to go and find this out by purchasing an dedicated Windows 3 machine and running an version of DOS for the machine. I already have an dedicated machine for PC-98 I do not give enough love to.
