Thank you for all your trouble making .gifs. I have tried all kinds of things without luck. I am not entirely convinced that there is a problem on your .hdi version, but I don't have another copy of the game other than yours.

Disk C shows no files in anxdiet - I think because the first file entry in the FAT is all spaces, but I might be wrong. Copies OK under emulation though.

The disk is fine, the installer is just pants-on-head retarded.
Just copy the bell2 directory and bells.bat to the hard drive. Then just run bells.bat. You can also copy config.sys and autoexec.bat from the floppy to make the HD auto-boot the game.
That's all the installer is trying to do.

The game wasn't originally distributed with the MS-DOS system files (io.sys, msdos.sys, command.com). Option 1 on the install menu is for copying those files from a DOS HD or FD onto the game disk to make it bootable. But the system files are already on Disk A, so someone has already done that.

As for that rainbow image, I think that's just what it looks like. I don't think it's corrupt.

Ha ha, sorry. "Pants-on-head retarded" means really stupid. Bad programming. The installer doesn't copy specific files, it tries to copy everything that's on the disk. And it doesn't check the current directory properly. The game appears to work fine, though.

That being the case, Choose diy more reliable than honest install.
