177 starts and seems to run fine in my very old Virtual98 from 1999 ( not sure about the "new" Virtual98 which does not do .fdd IIRC). Looks like a quick port from PC-8801 version.

I cannot understand the menu options in Hillsfar, but the game seems to start OK with your disk. Is it not a "save" disk, and you have to save something in the game first? Just guessing.

another game "Advanced Dungeons & Dragons - Pool of Radiance" have save disk,so i use it,replace my blank disk,Hillstar can format.

i already understand now,I was conscious that i had made a mistake

i must create a 1.2Mb blank disk,not a 1.44Mb blank disk :!:

That 177 disk is quite strange. I wish I had a spec for .fdd. That disk appears to have 1709 * 256 byte sectors, which is weird, as 1709 is not divisible by 2, or 80, or anything sensible. Maybe I am just stupid, or miscounted.

Here are the ones from the MESS pack I have:

http://www.retroprograms.com/temp/MESS_177.7z

None appear to work in Neko or Next, at least for me. Maybe you will have more luck.

Personally I am not a big fan of MESS, and I worry that some of their conversions are just bad.

Anna Wu seems to be associated with MESS - maybe she can help contact them. Or try running 177 in MESS - I tried but probably have an old version.

Please read the comments inside of the hash list for MESS.
http://git.redump.net/mame/tree/hash
pc98.xml:

Thanks. The ones in the MESS set are .d88 not .fdd though. One .d88 version is in the one set on the Internet Archive - I did not cross check the MESS ones, but it also doesn't run for me on anything.

If you have any info on the .fdd format I would love to see it.

Please don't mix the pc98.xml with the pc8801_flop.xml hash list.
You can check the comments inside too.

Apologies. Mixing my computers up - a long day, or getting senile. Stupid me! Sorry!

The only PC98 dump I can find is .fdd.
