Hello fellow J-computer enthusiasts, new PC98 owner here looking to start enjoying his investment.
I picked up an Epson PC Club (PC-98 clone) and I have everything down (disk writing, etc) except for one thing, my NEC XM29 doesn't seem to like the signal from my PC98. It's clearly a sync issue, I get the typical double vision effect on the screen. The XM29 supports low(15)/mid(24)/high(31+) res signals just fine, it has no issue with my X68000 and it's various odd display modes.
Im using a cable that works fine with my X68000, 15 pin to 15 pin dsub VGA - it just has R/G/B/VS/HS wired. THe only pin missing that the PC98 might need is the dot clock pin, which Im guessing might go to pin 15 on the VGA connector but I'm not sure.
Has anyone gotten a PC98 successfully hooked up to an XM29, or know if the dot clock pin is necessary? Additionally, are there any keys I could hold down on my model to maybe switch it to 31khz or 15khz? If I have to, I can get one of the scalers mentioned in other threads here on the forum but I want to make sure I get this cable wired right and know the machine functions before sinking more money.
Any help greatly appreciated!
