Today, I downloaded a rar file containing an iso of Windows 95 for PC98 along with a bootdisk.

I popped it up with a created hdi file from the emulator, but I dont know how to get the CD working, and I tried everything with the software, but I dont know where is an DOS disk image with CD support that works with the emulator (Anex86). So I copied the files into the drive as soon as I fdisk'd and formatted the drive. And I typed in setup.exe from Windows 95. And everything was smooth... Until this.

I get a SU-0013 error telling me that (translation) "Setup could not create files on your startup drive and cannot set up Windows. If you have HPFS or Windows NT file system, you must create an MS-DOS boot partition. If you have LANtastic server or SuperStor compression, disable it before running Setup."

I did create the partition from the bootdisk in the rar file along with the iso and run setup from there, but it tells me the error on, on, and again.

Can somebody tell me how to to get this version of Windows 95 running? I made sure the partition is fat16, but it didnt still install as the message still shows up.

It seemed that you have not formated the drive before installation.
1.boot from a MSDOS 6 disk.
2.Partition the harddrive with FDisk command.
3.Reboot once from the floppy, than format the hard drive.
4.Reboot, change to the CDRom drive , and than, setup.

best and safe of solution is :

ready for : ANEX86 ; ANEXEDIT / DISKEDIT (image editing tools) ; cd-rom image tools (to extract the windows install source)

1 create two new hard disk images in ANEX86 better size is 300MiB

2 use MS-DOS 6 or Windows 95 Startup disk to format and do a stand alone partition per HDimages

3 sys b:

4 close emulator , use the image edit tool to open the HDimage(non system) , drop windows install source to one hard disk image.

5 close edit tool , run emulator mount these HDimages.

6 may startup on harddisk , the drive letter is a: so execut these command

b: [return]
cd win95j [return] ← the path is windows 95 install source
setup [return]

7 setup is running , enjoy it

the advantage is no cd-rom drive to mount , low RAM use , and less CD-ROM plugin error. (ANEX86's CDROM may incomplete)
