Then... Nobody knows if the PC-9821N-K07/PC-9821N-K08 cables from NEC will let the use of joystick/pad PC/AT under MS-DOS games? I asked the seller from the auction and he said he don't know and can not check that.
Ok... at least, for the MIDI sound, we know that the RSC-15N cable from Roland really works for games with RS-232C MIDI option.
I have been reading all Roland Sound Canvas owner's manuals, and here is the list of the modules that are PC-9801/PC-9821 compatible (for connecting them to the RS-232C DB25 port):
- Roland SC-880 (year 1998)
- Roland SC-88ST PRO (year 1997)
- Roland SC-88PRO (year 1997)
- Roland SC-88ST (year 1996)
- Roland SC-88VL (year 1996)
- Roland SC-88 (year 1994)
- Roland SC-50 (year 1994)
- Roland SC-55ST (year 1993)
- Roland SC-55 MKII (year 1993)
- Roland SC-7 (year 1992) (This module don't support GS sound, so probably some games will sound bad)
All these Sound Canvas modules have "PC1 Computer" switch option which works at speed 31.25K instead of 38.4K (used with "PC2" option for PC/AT computers). PC-98X1 games need speed 31.25K for working with MIDI.
